BJJ Veteran Max Gimenis Signs With UFC Ahead Of Heavyweight Debut

Max Gimenis, a seasoned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor, has officially joined the UFC roster and is set to make his debut in the promotion soon.

Promoted to black belt in 2016 after capturing the IBJJF World Championship as a brown belt, Gimenis quickly established himself by competing against many of the sport’s elite grapplers.
Over the years, he shared the mats with some of the biggest names in Jiu-Jitsu before gradually shifting his focus to MMA in 2022.

And, well, the transition looked promising right away.

Gimenis made his professional MMA debut just before ADCC 2022, finishing his opponent in the opening round.
He followed that up with another win before suffering a knockout loss in his third fight.

Since then, however, he has been nearly flawless – stringing together four straight victories against increasingly tough opposition.
His current professional record stands at 6-1, with five of those wins coming by way of finish.

While building his MMA career, Gimenis continued to compete sporadically in grappling.

His most notable performance came at the debut Pit Submission Series, where he earned a decision victory over Dan Manasoiu, proving he could still hang with the very best in the sport.

He also appeared at the inaugural CJI last year, though he lost in the opening round to the eventual champion.
