Former UFC champion BJ Penn has once again found himself in trouble with the law.
The Hawaii Island Police Department confirmed that Penn was arrested on September 15, 2025, marking yet another incident in his ongoing struggles with law enforcement.
According to the department’s public statement, Penn was taken into custody and charged with violating a court order for protection.
His bail was set at $2,000, which he posted shortly after, leading to his release.
Police reported that Hilo Patrol Officers responded to a call at 4:03 p.m. on September 15 regarding a possible violation.
They determined that Penn had entered a property in defiance of the terms of an active protection order in which he is the respondent.
He was later arrested without incident, and his bail was processed the following day.
This latest development adds to a series of run-ins with the law over the past several years.
Although many of Penn’s arrests have been unrelated, the frequency of these incidents has raised growing concern.
Just a few months earlier, Penn was arrested and charged with “abuse of a family or household member: offensive physical contact.”
Around that same time, his mother filed for a restraining order against him, alleging disturbing behavior.
She claimed Penn tampered with her home security by covering video cameras with duct tape and even disabling her bedroom lock by putting glue in the deadbolt.
At this stage, authorities have not confirmed whether Penn’s most recent arrest is connected to those earlier allegations and the restraining order filing.
