Veteran grappler Ben Eddy was on the receiving end of a huge illegal slam at the ADCC Dallas-Fort Worth Open 2026, but fortunately escaped without any serious injuries.
Eddy, one of the most recognizable athletes to emerge from the 10th Planet system, has competed at every level of the sport throughout his career.
Known for his creative guard game and the Hindulotine submission he developed himself, he remains an active competitor despite already having dozens of high-profile matches on his resume.
The incident occurred after Eddy had already put together an impressive performance in the under 70kg division, where he went 4-1 and earned a bronze medal with all four victories coming by submission.
Looking for an extra challenge, Eddy also entered the absolute division and won his opening match before facing Jakori Savage in the second round.
During the overtime period, Eddy climbed onto Savage from a standing position.
Savage, who had competed earlier in the over 100kg division, responded by slamming Eddy into the mat in a move that immediately resulted in a disqualification.
The impact was severe enough that medical staff were called in to assess Eddy following the match.
After footage of the slam spread across social media, many fans expressed concern for the veteran grappler.
Eddy later reassured everyone that he was doing well and had not suffered any serious injuries.
He also took partial responsibility for the situation, joking that:
It probably wasn’t smart of me to jump up there and ask for it.
