Another Trump Stepped Onto The Mats – Lara Trump Begins Training In BJJ

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu continues to gain ground within the Trump family, with Lara Lea Trump now beginning her own training journey.

Lara was recently introduced to the sport during a session filmed for Fox News, marking her first hands-on experience with the martial art that has already become a fixture in her household.

Her initial training was overseen by former Bellator competitor Leah McCourt, who shared moments from the session online.
Posting images from the mat, McCourt noted that their discussion covered MMA, women’s self-defense, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals, and the differences between gi and no-gi training.

The session focused on introductory movements and practical self-defense concepts, rather than sparring.

Lara’s decision to train follows the steady progress of her children, Luke and Carolina, who recently earned their Grey belts after consistent work under Carlson Gracie Jr..

The family’s broader connection to the art traces back to Ivanka Trump, who previously explained that her daughter Arabella first requested Jiu-Jitsu training out of a desire for confidence and self-protection:

She came to me and said: “You know, as a woman, I feel like I need to know how to defend myself.”

After her daughter started training, Ivanka joined in as well, followed by her sons and then her husband too:

It’s almost like a moving meditation because the movements are so micro.
It’s like three-dimensional chess.
