Andrew Wiltse has confirmed that he will be making a return to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, this time by opening Wiltse Brothers BJJ alongside his brother, Bird Wiltse!
The move marks a major turning point for Wiltse, who has faced well-documented struggles with mental health over the past few years.
His most difficult period culminated in an arrest last year, but throughout it all, he has continued to receive support from his brother and many in the BJJ community.
In a recent video update, Wiltse took the opportunity to address past comments he made during a manic episode, particularly those aimed at Craig Jones:
I am deeply apologetic and I am sorry, Craig, for everything I said.
It was me being manic and malicious and dealing with a lot, getting attacked from a lot of different angles. You’ve always seemed like a nice guy and I genuinely regret saying anything negative about you.
At his peak, Wiltse was considered one of the best no-gi grapplers in the world, holding victories over elite names like PJ Barch and Gabriel Almeida.
However, he has not competed in more than four years and has struggled with consistent training throughout that time.
Whether he will return to competition or focus solely on coaching remains unclear.
