A few months ago, multiple world champion in Jiu-Jitsu and ADCC, Andre Galvao has thoughts about about returning to MMA. He had enjoyed past success in MMA . The São Paulo native has fought in large organizations such as Strikeforce and Dream, where he accumulated five wins and two losses, before returning to devote himself exclusively to Jiu-Jitsu. In an interview with tatame in Portuguese in January, Galvao had said that he was thinking of going back to MMA and wanted to win a belt:

“I always wanted this, I will not lie. I can’t say what it is, but I still have the dream of winning a world title in MMA. Everything depends on the opportunities that God will give us. In time, I believe I’ll go back to MMA “said Galvao.

Now having just won the gold in the up to 88 kg division in the World Pro, held in Abu Dhabi in April, seems to have given him more reason to continue in Jiu-Jitsu:

“I was very excited to go back (to MMA), but gradually, I was thinking that I did not fight since 2010, because I am very dedicated to Jiu-Jitsu, which has opened many doors for me. Today, I can support my family with this very well. MMA is a dream that I still have, but I have to leave it a little aside, as I had to stop everything to do with Jiu-Jitsu to jump right in MMA. You can not do both at the same time. I’ll be 100% dedicated to Jiu-Jitsu, because this is my future.”

Galvão was involved professionally in mixed martial arts from 2008 to 2010, during which he collected five wins and two losses. He fought in Strikeforce, where he had his last fight in his career: a loss by TKO to Tyron Woodley who today, is ranked third in the welterweight division of the UFC .
