ADCC Head Organizer Talks Craig Jones’ Upcoming BDCC Tournament: “Not The Right Reasons”

Craig Jones has recently announced that he’ll organize a submission grappling tournament with $2 million in play…

Craig humorously refers to it as “BDCC.” This new event will feature two 16-man brackets: one for competitors over 80kg and another for those under 80kg. Craig aims to gather the world’s top grapplers to compete for a million-dollar grand prize. Additionally, each participant will receive $10,000 just for showing up. Sound familiar?

And Mo Jassim, ADCC Head Organizer, believes that this has been done to “spite” him and his tournament.

Jassim shared his thoughts on the topic on a recent livestream, as reported by BJJDoc:

Let’s just be honest here, okay?

If you really want to do this event the right way, first of all, if you’re going to have all that, then do it the right way.
Get the spectators, get a company to come and help and do it properly.

But to just do it to counterprogram us or spite us, that’s just not the right reasons.
And when you don’t do stuff for the right reasons, I think it becomes apparent.

So that’s my stance.

However, Jassim says he is focused on what he can do:

But, you know, I can’t stop it. Let him do whatever the hell he wants to do.
I will focus on what I need to do, okay?

I don’t really focus on what others need to do, okay?
I have a job to do.

I have 14,000 of you coming.
I have the biggest names in the sport about to compete.

And I have a job and an obligation to provide the entertainment for the spectators and make sure the athletes get taken care of.

That’s my job.
