Adam Wardzinski ended his legendary competitive career in poetic fashion – by making history and walking away on top.
Moments after securing gold at the IBJJF World Championship 2025, Wardzinski placed his black belt on the mat…
Which is a traditional gesture signaling retirement.
The win completed his flawless 13-match run across the year and crowned him as the first European ever to achieve an IBJJF grand slam.
Wardzinski’s climb has been anything but easy, though.
He began training Jiu-Jitsu at 18 and earned his black belt in 2016, representing Poland with a unique and effective butterfly guard that turned him into a fan favorite.
While respected on the international scene for years, his major breakthrough didn’t come until 2022 when, at age 30, he captured gold at the IBJJF European Championship.
The following year, he added the IBJJF Pan title to his resume, further proving his elite status.
Then in 2024, Wardzinski made history by becoming the first European man to win the IBJJF World Championship – a milestone that cemented his legacy in the sport.
