2013 IBJJF Worlds: Recap From Days 1 & 2

The BJJ Worlds are in full effect in the Long Beach Walter Pyramid. While we wait for the black belt action on Saturday and Sunday. The blue, purple and lightweight brown all engaged in battles.

Ana Carolina Vieira (Rodolfo’s sister) dominated the blue belt middleweight and absolute and got promotted by Master Julio Cesar on the podium under the watchful eye of brother Rodolfo. This was actually her second time in a row winning the world title in her division.

Poland’s Marysia Małyjasiak, new purple belt world champion! Historic first gold medal for Poland at the IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu worlds: Maria Małyjasiak ! The representative Drysdale Jiu-Jitsu won the gold at women’s purple belt heavyweight!
Michael Liera Jr wins the purple belt lightweight division for the second time. The Atos ace was again crowned. He beat Marcelo Garcia student Mansher Singh Khera with an ezekiel from mount.

The Uk’s Vanessa English, won the female purple belt lightweight title with a choke. The Victor Estima was on fire on her road to the title. Monique Elias (Alliance) won the middleweight at purple.

The brown belts lightweights were in action and the Miyao brothers closed the light feather division as expected. Gianni Grippo (Alliance) won the brown belt featherweight division. He has now won the worlds at every belt.

Rafael Henrique Pereira (Gracie Elite Team) wins the brown belt lightweight division. The divison was stacked with top players such as Sinistro, Gary Tonnon, AJ Aagazarm, Victor Genovesi, Ilke Bulut, Victor Silverio etc..
