Werdum Back To Competing In Grappling – Superfight With Lucas Hulk Barbosa Set

Werdum is currently 41 years old. Having received a 24 month suspension for his first infraction – makes Werdum’s future career in the octagon suspect. Still the ADCC vet wants to keep on competing:

“I want to keep fighting,” Werdum concluded. “I’m training every day – of course, I’m not training with the same intensity of when I have a fight. … I’ve thought of fighting in a different country. I’m going to see what I’ll do now. It’s hard now – it’s all very recent. I still have to talk to the UFC. I’m still working on TV as a commentator (with the UFC’s Spanish-language broadcasts). There are many things happening and I need to take a moment to really think, because sometimes I’ll say something, and I’ll regret it later.

First step for Werdum is to sharpen up his grappling so he will be competing at the Spyder Invitational in Korea come November 3rd.

Matches will be 10 minutes long and will follow IBJJF black belt no-gi rules—heel hooks will not be permitted.

Werdum recently shared his finish of Fedor Emelianenko and made no comment on grappling event:
