Weightlifter Almost Dies Following New Deadlift World Record

Eddie Hall had q near death experience recently after achieving the new deadlift world record. Just last year he lifted 462kg (1018 pounds) outdoing the previous record.

Eddi Hall said:

“There’s more in the bank. I think I will be the first mant to do 500kg deadlift.”

Looking through the history a number of strongman athletes had substantial issues hitting 900 pounds in the last decade so barely anyone believed 500kg lift was even in the realm of possibility.

This years’s World Deadlift Championship held in Leeds, England proved them wrong. The 28 year old Englishman made a true mark in World history by pulling off a half ton weight off the ground.

You can watch a video of his outstanding achievement here:

However, he promptly paid the price of pushing human limits. He collapsed immediately after the lift and revealed that burst blood vessels in his head nearly killed him:

“The pressure on my body was surreal. I passed out after. I had nose bleeds. It’s not healthy doing something like that”, he explained. “But I’ve done it. I’m sure it will be in the history books for a very long time.”

While his health suffered Hall is still quite happy with results:

“It’s that great feeling, like the first man on the moon, the first man to run a mile in under four minutes. And now I’m the first to deadlift half a ton. It’s history and I’m very proud to be a part of it”

To bring Hall’s achievement into perspective, world class jiu-jitsu Marcus Buchecha deadlifts around 225 kg.

Marcus Buchecha deadlift:

UFC fighters Jim Miller and Raffy Oliveira deadlifting almost 3 times their weight. Their PR in the deadlift with 425lbs for 3 singles when both weigh around 160 pounds!
