Moldovan Olympic judo star Adil Osmanov dislocated his shoulder while celebrating his bronze medal victory at the Paris Olympics last Monday.
The incident occurred after Osmanov defeated Italy’s Manuel Lombardo in the small final of the 73 kg weight class.
As Osmanov celebrated his win with a fist pump, he overextended his arm, leading to the dislocation of his shoulder and causing him to cry out in pain.
Despite the injury, however, the 24-year-old judoka managed to recover in time to collect his bronze medal on the podium – joining champion Hidayat Heydarov and silver medallist Joan-Benjamin Gaba, who had previously defeated Osmanov in the semi-final.

Osmanov later revealed that he had been dealing with an illness prior to the match and had been advised to undergo shoulder surgery before the Olympics:
Yes, it was very difficult. And during the warm-up, I felt bad, but I’ve had that before…
And that’s when I got a medal.
The president of Moldova, Maia Sandu, congratulated Osmanov on his success, saying:
dil Osmanov brings the second bronze medal for Moldova. Congratulations, Adil.
