Victor Estima’s Surprise Triangle Set Up

Triangle Choke? Triangle Choke! Everyone loves it and wants to get better at setting it up. (Unless you have really short legs… Sorry about that.)
And how many Triangle setups do you know? You probably know the basic one from Closed Guard or even the one from Mount. But you need to know more of them!

When you’re attacking someone from Closed Guard, for example, they’ll keep their elbows tight.

The Collar bump Triangle is perhaps one of the most simple variations you could try. Why? Because the Collar Guard is one of the most simple guards to get into; you just need one collar grip.

In this video, Victor Estima shows a very easy triangle set up that you can do when your opponent is stiff arming you. Victor grabs a cross sleeve grip and starts pulling hard forcing his opponent to react by pulling back. Victor then reacts by following his opponent and actually hip bumping the opponent and forcing him to post his arm in order not to fall. This is the best time to set up a triangle.
