UFC’s lightweight Carlos Diego Ferreira has been suspended ahead of scheduled Fight Night 88 where he was supposed to face Abel Trujillo.

Ferreira has had a couple of impressive showings in the UFC. His current record stands at 12-2-0.

Nevada Athletic Commission suspended Ferreira for 12 months for testing positive for a banned substance. He allegedly used ostarine in an out of competition drug test prior to UFN 88 where he was supposed to face Trujilo.

Ostarine is a selective androgen receptor modulator that aids steroid-like muscle growth without additional side effets. Ferreira claimed he was innocent during Tuesday’s hearing and submitted all his supplements for USADA tesing. Ferreira’s suspension is retroactive so he will be eligible to fight after April 31st next year.

Recently another fighter tested positive for ostarine – Tim Means however in his case the positive result was from a tainted supplement so he got off with only 6 months of suspension.
