Uber driver Was Arrested And Confessed to Killing former UFC fighter Rodrigo de Lima

Uber driver Jefferson Roger Maciel Barata has already confessed to running down former UFC fighter Rodrigo de Lima.

That’s according to a report from MMA Fighting.

”I’ve asked God and his family for forgiveness,” Barata said (via UOL). “It wasn’t my goal to take anyone’s life. I’ve never done anything bad to anyone. Today was going to be my wedding. I was going to start a new life, and this happened. I’ll pay for what I’ve done, and I regret it deeply. I ask his family and friends for forgiveness.”

Barata then claims he returned with his car to scare the former fighter however he ended up accidentally killing him.

”Monstro” (9-3-1) fought twice under the UFC banner between 2014 and 2015, losing to Neil Magny and Efrain Escudero. The former Jungle Fight welterweight champion fought for the last time in June 2018, submitting Luiz Fabiano in the co-main event of Shooto Brazil 85.
