Travis Stevens Shows His Favorite Band Exercises

Practicing Uchikomi (Judo throw drills) greatly improves throwing skills.

Rubber band uchikomi is an effective way to drastically improve your muscle memory for throws. The equipment is simple, as you just need a rubber band or in some cases, a BJJ/Judo belt which you wrap around a pole.

The two ends of the band represent your opponents’ lapel and sleeve. You can even put your gi inside the bands, added with special grip trainers at the end of the elastic band to mimic grips.

Uchikomi Bands are something Olympic Judo silver medalist Travis Stevens has used throughout his entire career as a Judoka. It’s a great tool to really help with your cardio or weightloss. It can also be a great teaching tool for beginner level judoka.
