Top List Of Funniest People In Jiu-Jitsu

One of the great things about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are the characters that make up the sport. Here is a list of the funniest people in Jiu-Jitsu in no particular order:

Renato Laranja, the man – the legend. Most recently he was seen showing the intricate detail work that goes into a guillotine choke to a no neck wonder AJ Agazarm mid Studio 540 Challenge.

He’s also well known for hits like this one (attached below).

The 27 times World Jiu-Jitsu champion, is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu parody made by actor Rhasaan Orange. Rhasaan is actually a Black belt in Jiu-Jitsu (10th planet) under Eddie Bravo.  The word “Laranja” in Portuguese means “Orange” like Rhassan’s real last name. Renato Laranja is so funny because he is a caricature of so many Brazilians who teach Jiu-Jitsu abroad and who are always preaching the ‘gringos’ what is right and what is wrong. It’s always hilarious. He’s a bit like a crazy version of Rickson/Royce/Renzo/Relson Gracie all into one.

Joe Rogan

Rogan has a wealth of experience and is widely considered one of the best commentators. But when he’s not podcasting or doing UFC commentary he does stand up all over the USA.

“If you can lie, you can act, and if you can lie to crazy girlfriends, you can act under pressure.”

He is a long term practitioner of Jiu-Jitsu holding a black belt under Jean Jacques Machado, and also from Eddie Bravo (10th planet style). He is also a stand-up comedian, actor, writer and color commentator. He is best known for playing Joe Garrelli on the NBC sitcom NewsRadio, commentating for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, as well as hosting the NBC reality show Fear Factor and The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

Earlier in 2016 he released a tv special Joe Rogan: Triggered. In this special Rogan explores everything from raising kids and Santa Claus to pot gummies and talking to dolphins.

Kit Dale

Australian black belt Kit Dale (see his interview here) is not only an awesome Jiu-Jitsu champion, who has won some high level competitions in Brazil and the World Pro, he is also one of the funniest guys around with new ridiculous videos coming up daily. His Arnold impersonation is awesome:

Dale is finally recovering from a difficult injury and slowly coming back to the competition scene!

Joey ‘Coco” Diaz

Joey ‘Coco” Diaz is a Cuban-American stand-up comedian and actor known for his recurring role as Joey on the TV series My Name is Earl, as well as in movies such as The Longest Yard and Taxi.

Diaz was promoted to the rank of blue belt in BJJ by Alberto Crane earlier this year! If you want to hear about how he met Joe Rogan, Eddie Bravo and started getting serious about his jits click here.

Wallid Ismail

The Carlson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Champion is probably not trying to be funny but his crazy persona sure is funny.

Mario Sperry

Just like Wallid Ismail, he wasn’t trying to be funny but his vale tudo instructional had some hilarious expressions:

Jean Machado

Jean Machado has been making us laugh for quite a while now. Charismatic comedian is known for gems like:

Ralek Gracie

Metamoris founder has repeatedly come across as funny even though that may not have been his intention. Just this year he was grappling Garry Tonon in an attempt to save the struggling Metamoris 7 when he got a warrior haircut that looked suspiciously like it belonged on a kids program.

And that’s not even touching upon his interview work:

Kurt Osiander

Cult hero in the world of BJJ. He is a old school Ralph Gracie Black Belt with solid credentials and strong lineage. He is loved because he holds nothing back and always speaks his mind. He is also funny as hell and has crazy hair. That’s what we like about him. Here is a collection of his quotes. (For complete quotes go here)

bout the 50/50 guard “If do it wrong, you’re getting fucked. If you do it right, you’re doing the fucking!”

“you fucked up a long time ago” and “keep your ass down, this is San Francisco”

“I have something to show you guys and don’t worry it’s not my dick”

“Fucking white belts…”

“Fuck berimbolos!”

Renzo Gracie

Bad boy of bjj is nothing if not temperamental but his good heart and his never-ending legacy make him both loved, feared and admired. For Renzo, anything less than a submission is unsatisfactory.

His intensity can sometimes cross over on to the hilarious side
