Then 12-Year-Old Alleged Victim in Melqui Galvão Case Comes Forward with Harrowing Testimony

The ongoing investigation involving Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach Melqui Galvão has taken another serious turn, following the emergence of a new testimony from a young woman who alleges a pattern of misconduct that began when she was 12 years old.

According to statements reported by Brazilian media outlets, the young woman describes a situation in which a relationship of trust between coach and student was gradually replaced by manipulation and isolation. Her account adds to a growing number of allegations currently being examined by authorities.

In her own words, she recounted a moment that she says marked a turning point:

“When he picked me up, he took me to the store where I chose the Gi. I chose it, and then he didn’t take me home, he took me to a private place,” she said. “Today I recognize that the place used to be a hotel. When I entered the place, I didn’t know what it was because I had a view of the front of the place, but there was nothing written on it. He entered through the back.”

She further claimed that the alleged abuse escalated over time and reached its most severe point when she was 14.

“I bled.”

The young woman also expressed her belief that others may have experienced similar situations within the same training environment.

“I know three girls who trained with me, and I’m sure they went through this. When I saw other situations happening and the accounts being the same, I thought, ‘Man, this guy is really sick, he did this to so many others, so many.’”

She encouraged others who may have had similar experiences to come forward:

“This situation needs to be stopped, and justice needs to be served in relation to it as well. The more women who show up today, the better.”

The testimony has reportedly been broadcast by major Brazilian outlets including SBT, CNN Brasil, and Globo, bringing wider public attention to the case.

Previous reports have also indicated that another individual, described as a 17-year-old whose identity is being protected, had earlier come forward with allegations. That account is believed to have contributed to the opening and expansion of the current investigation.

Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and statements as part of an active inquiry. At this stage, no final judicial determination has been made, and the allegations remain under investigation.

The situation has sparked widespread discussion within the global jiu-jitsu community, particularly regarding the responsibilities of coaches working with young athletes and the importance of safeguarding standards within the sport.

As the case develops, further updates are expected from official sources.
