The Italia Open Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gi & No-Gi with Big Prize Money

The Italia Open di Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gi e No-Gi is set to take place in Rome on March 26th, and it promises to be an exciting event for all Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu enthusiasts. This competition is open to all athletes, including foreigners, and there is no requirement for membership or affiliation.

 

Competitors will have the chance to showcase their skills in both Gi and No-Gi divisions. What’s more, the top five teams in each division will not only receive a trophy, but also cash prizes.

 

The prize money for the top five teams will depend on the number of athletes registered for the competition. If at least 600 athletes participate, the prize money will be as follows:

 

The first-place team will receive 1,000 euros.

The second-place team will receive 700 euros.

The third-place team will receive 500 euros.

The fourth-place team will receive 300 euros.

The fifth-place team will receive 200 euros.

 

However, if there are fewer than 600 athletes registered, the prize money will be adjusted as follows:

 

The first-place team will receive 500 euros.

The second-place team will receive 300 euros.

The third-place team will receive 200 euros.

The fourth-place team will receive 150 euros.

The fifth-place team will receive 100 euros.

 

Registration on smoothcomp is open until Sunday, March 19th, 2023 (for weight categories) and until Tuesday, March 21st, 2023 (for Openweight). Registrations for the competition will be closed in advance if the maximum number of participants is reached.

 

All athletes can register for both the Gi and No-Gi tournaments, as well as for their weight category and Openweight (where applicable). Athletes who register for the Openweight tournament can participate regardless of the result obtained in their weight category.

 

Registration fees to be paid on smoothcomp are:

 

36 euros for the Gi or No-Gi weight category (26 euros for age classes from 4 to 15 years old);

16 euros for each Openweight;

10 euro discount for those who register for both the Gi and No-Gi tournaments.

 

At the weigh-in on the day of the competition, those who do not fit into the weight category they have registered for will be disqualified from the weight category tournament, but can still participate in the Openweight tournament if applicable.

 

The Openweight tournament (without weight limits) is only available in the Juvenile, Adult, and Master age classes (in the Adult male age class in each Belt there are two Openweight tournaments). All athletes are invited to register their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Belt on smoothcomp.

 

Please note that athletes who have competed in national MMA, Olympic Wrestling, or Sambo tournaments or who hold a Black Belt in Judo or a higher Belt than White in Grappling or MMA, cannot register for the White Belt tournaments.

 

While the cash prizes add an extra incentive for teams to compete, the Italia Open of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu it’s an opportunity for athletes to showcase their skills and compete in one of the most prestigious Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions in Italy. The last edition recorded over a thousand registrations.
