Taekwondo Instructor Has an Interesting Opinion about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

In this interesting video video, Mr. Penton (4th degree black belt, co-owner of Master Yourself Martial Arts in Titusville, USA) discusses some of the differences between training in Taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

For him, Jiu-Jitsu is just a ground game martial art, when in fact in BJJ , the fight always starts standing and we all learn takedowns. He also refers to Jiu-Jitsu as ‘Chess on the mat’, being mostly a technical art which is partly true but there is also a very physical aspect to training BJJ.

He also talks about how using kicks are more effective than punches.
