Make Them Tap With a Body-Lock Triangle

Make Them Tap With a Body-Lock Triangle

Many of us will get to to our training partner’s back and immediately focus on securing a choke or armbar. There is an easier option that many forget: The body triangle submission.

Yes, that’s right. You can make them tap by squeezing the life out of them. You don’t even need strong legs to do so, just perfect placement.

In MMA, there have been two body triangle submissions and they were nasty:

David Morcegao, a BJJ black belt under Ricardo De La Riva and founder of invisiblejiujitsu.co.uk shows us some great details about how to constrict your opponent’s abdomen in order to put a hug amount of pressure. It’s also a great way to distract your opponent from defending the your incoming chokes.

David shows two set ups, one from the side and the other from the top ( this one is nasty).

He also emphasises that you should listen to your opponent’s breathing partner so as to time your squeeze!

If you want to become a triangle machine and set up all sorts of triangles, check out Craig Jones’s mind blowing, but extremely clear and organized instructional from BJJ Fanatics called Triangle Machine.  It is power packed with all of the secrets that makes his triangle one of the most feared on the planet.  Just ask Murilo Santana who fell victim to it during last year’s ADCC.
