Santos Issues Public Challenge to Leandro Lo Ahead of Copa Podio

Belo Horizonte Open was held this past Saturday and it featured Erberth Santos facing Lo’s teammate Alex Aparecido in the finale of the super heavyweight division.

Aparecido had managed to tap out Santos (via triangle) previously at the Sao Paolo Open that was held prior to Worlds 2016.

Erberth Santos managed to get retribution and won in the Belo Horizonte finals and directly challenged Leandro Lo in front of everybody while pointing at him in the audience:

Direct Translation?

I challenge Leandro Lo. I always dreamed of fighting with my idols and in recent time I’ve done that. Leandro is one of those idols that served as an inspiration so I challenge him and I said “See you at Copa Podio” because we will fight on July 9th at the event.

Santos further clarified that he meant no insult but that he is merely excited that this match will take place in front of eyes of avid fans.

Lo has been previously quoted saying:

“I don’t like to talk, I’m a fighter and I prefer to fight”

in response to Santos, Lo said to GracieMag:

“There are 10 guys there and we’re going to go to war on July 9th. We’ll see who’s who.”
