Rousimar Palheres Weighs In at 218?! Jones match set to Be Open Weight After All

Rousimar Palhares is headlining Kasai Pro 3 in New York against Craig Jones, and the grappling match is still on despite the fact that “Toquinho” came in hot at staggering 218 pounds.

Palhares fought mma at 170 lbs and was quoted saying:

”I felt really bad cutting weight last time,” Palhares said. “I can’t make that weight anymore. I almost died. I can’t do it. I missed weight, I almost died, had to be medicated. I look like a crackhead at 170, I reached my limit. That was the last time I cut that much of weight. I’m done. No more. I might die, something can happen.

”I thought about pulling out of the fight but I needed the money. What can I do? I have a family, man. When you have family there’s no coming back. I have bills to pay.”

However Jones match was originally supposed to be at 180. Promotion changed the weight limit to 200 lbs a couple of days ago after Palhares informed he would be able to make that limit.

But it seems as though even that was a hardship?!

Palhares wasn’t the only black belt to miss weight. UFC lightweight Gilbert Burns – set to face AJ Agazarm at 170-lbs stepped on the scale at 180.4 pounds. With his suit on, Agazarm weighed 172.6 lbs. This is not the first time Durinho came in heavy. He notably missed weight by 10 lbs for the Garry Tonon match up he lost as well.
