Marina Shafir is a MMA fighter with a professional fight record of 1 wins, 2 losses and 0 draws. She is also Ronda Rousey best friend and best training partner. They have known each other since their youth Judo days.

Marina Shafir was born on April 4, 1988 and originally hails from the Republic of Moldova. She and her family immigrated to the U.S. when she was five years old and made Lathem, NY their new home. The young Marina began her Judo training just a year after moving to the United States, which became the foundation of her MMA career.

However, Marina didn’t immediately enter the mixed martial arts circuit as soon as she became very adept at Judo. The 27-year old “Supernova From Moldova” first went on to become an international champion judoka on the U.S. National team, where she trained with close friend and roommate, Ronda Rousey.

From 2012 to 2014, Marina Shafir showed the MMA world what she’s got by earning an impressive 5-0 amateur record. When she passed pro, she compiled a 1-2 record with her last fight in 2015.

Shafir recently anounced her unexpected pregnancy on her Vlog. This is usually cause for celebration, but in her case it wasn’t. Let’s hope it changes and that she embraces this as a gift in her life:

The first clip here was my initial reaction to my pregnancy. i was devastated. I went through what I like to call “the gutter” of thoughts.. I cared about what everyone else thought, I was not kind to myself, I started to resent myself, and i started to forget about all of the amazing things that I was a part of before ‘this’ happened.I cannot stress enough to talk about what you are feeling because all of it is allowed and not wrong. in order for me to come to terms with everything, i had to just let it out. Mad, angry, sad, confused, anxious, etc, it is ALL OKAY. I know this video is kind of long, and sappy, but i promise they aren’t all going to be like that. Im still learning how to edit and what not so be kind 🙂
