Roger Gracie has had a victorious career filled with significant achievements in Jiu-Jitsu. Recently, the Brazilian visited the United States and trained with the current star of grappling, Gordon Ryan. This training session has captured the imagination of fans on social media.

In an interview with the YouTube channel “Rapha com Élles,” the multi-champion shared his experience training with “The King.” Gracie revealed that most of the training was not grappling but rather gi-based. The ten-time world champion also evaluated Gordon’s level with the gi.

“There’s not much to comment on (about the training with Gordon Ryan). It was a friendly, gym session. We weren’t trying to kill each other; it wasn’t about proving anything to one another. It wasn’t a fight; it was a training session. We trained more with the gi than without it. I was in the United States for a podcast and spent a few days there, and we ended up training. He’s tough with the gi too, but he’s much better without it,” Roger Gracie stated.

Roger Gracie is widely regarded as one of the greatest names in gi Jiu-Jitsu history, having been a ten-time black belt world champion and securing three ADCC titles. At 42 years old, the Rio de Janeiro native last competed in 2017, when he submitted compatriot Marcus Buchecha in the main event of Gracie Kore, held in Rio de Janeiro.

Currently a grappling star, Gordon Ryan, 29, has been undefeated since May 2018. The American last competed in June this year, submitting Josh Saunders at Who’s Number One 24. Gordon is confirmed to participate in ADCC 2024, where he will have two super fights against Brazilians Felipe Preguiça and Yuri Simões.
