Having problems with your guard prevention? Can’t seem to master those awesome techniques you just saw on Youtube? Do you feel like your game is not developing as fast as you would like? Well…Think again!
Regardless of your style, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the fastest growing martial arts in the world, and this growth is followed by an ocean of instructional dvd’s featuring different techniques from different positions. One thing is for certain; BJJ is an intricate and intelligent game, and everybody wants to improve with the aim of getting an advantage on the mats, and most of us are experimenting with different techniques taken straight from Youtube or from the newest instructional video.
As a practitioner and novice instructor I am constantly on the lookout for new ways to improve my game as well as helping my students improve their fundamentals, so when I heard about Rob Biernacki’s online academy offering an additional section for instructors, I felt intrigued to try it out. Little did I know what an impact this would have on my way of understanding and teaching jiu-jitsu. The reason for this is Rob’s unorthodox teaching style, a style I believe can be summarized using the old proverb “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. This is exactly what Rob Biernacki does, providing his online students with a newer, fresher and smarter approach on how to understand and develop his or her own Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and most importantly – how to become autonomous. In his online classes, Rob focuses on something far beyond individual techniques, offering a somewhat scientific approach to this gentle art using a taxonomy of the concepts and the underlying mechanics as to what exactly facilitates a successful movement, something that in my opinion makes Rob’s online academy unique.
The online academy is well structured and I would recommend having a closer look on the website as the program is divided into sections and subsections covering everything from passing the guard to how to maintain control of the back, starting with the core concepts, followed by BJJ 101 fundamentals where you learn the essential positions and how to escape and control your opponent. Building upon the core concepts and the BJJ 101, the BJJ 201 curriculum goes deeper into the specifics, followed by the FYJJ section where you learn and practice drilling and situational sparring, thus increasing your effectiveness in all areas of your game to the level of an elite grappler. This is where you learn what it truly means to be in control! But that’s not all; Rob has devoted a whole section to instructors where he shares his pedagogy and unique ways of teaching class so that you as an instructor can better assist your students by providing them with a much deeper conceptual understanding of Jiu-Jitsu.
The student package is offered at 20 USD per month or 200 USD/Year and the instructors package is 30 USD/month or 300 USD/year, which in my opinion is well worth the investment considering this unique approach. You will get a 10% discount by using the code ‘BJJEE’ Here.
Having reviewed Rob Biernacki’s online academy, my conclusion is that this program is not only one of its kind, but also that Rob’s coaching style and fresh new approach to teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu far supersedes any other online program on the market, a resource that I believe will improve anyone’s game and take it to the next level.
