Rickson Gracie is currently in Japan where he was overlooking the annual Rickson Gracie cup, held a Jiu-Jitsu seminar and this time made history by leading the first ever Gracie Jiu-Jitsu seminar to Japan’s defense forces.
The Japan Self-Defense Forces or JSDF are the unified military forces of Japan and are controlled by the Ministry of Defense.
Japan has one of the largest defense budgets in the world, spending up to 1% of GDP.
This jiu-jitsu seminar came as tensions are rising between Japan and their neighbour North Korea who have been launching missiles over some Japanese islands such as Hokaido.
This also coincided with Rickson releasing his first ever official Jiu-Jitsu instructional video series:
Here are the pictures. Rickson was received by the highest leaders of Japan’s military.
