Rare Rickson Gracie Tournament Footage

Rare Rickson Gracie Tournament Footage

Here’s a rare video footage find of the legendary Rickson Gracie competing in a sport jiu-jitsu match in the 80’s back in Brazil.

Rickson Gracie is regarded by many BJJ practitioners as the greatest Jiu-Jitsu fighter of all time.

What made him so superior? What made him so special?

People who have spent time training with Rickson usually talk about his pressure and weight distribution. Dave Camarillo also famously said: “Training with Rickson is like trying to move a house.”

As we expect, the match ends in submission. Rickson’s game even in a competition is focused just on the submission. He was not looking to score points. His goal is to secure a solid position and then attack the submission.

Imagine if every competitor had this mindset how competition Jiu-Jitsu would look like…
