ADCC Trials in Brazil were quite an event. Held on February 4th at Rio De Janeiro’s Grajau Country Club. It was the same venue that hosted the previous trials but in the results section it wasn’t exactly all predictable.

A new sensation emerged – that star is Atos purple belt Kaynan Duarte. Duarte was close to earn his spot at the previously held Sao Paolo trials but his 5th opponent got to him on that occasion and he finished 3rd (even though he admirably submitted the first 4 opponents).

However Rio De Janeiro was quite different – in a division that had names like Patrick Gaudio and Charles Negromonte, Duarte managed to stun and come out on top. He reportedly ended up being the champion having beaten Patrick Gaudio in the finale via points. And all of this at age 18! The future looks ultra bright for this jiu-jiteiro!
