At least for the participants, the 31st edition of the reality show “The Ultimate Fighter” has begun. That’s what Conor McGregor pointed out , as he is one of next season’s coaches. Through his social networks, the former double UFC champion posted a video in which he guides his team in a shadow boxing training, a technique where athletes train throwing blows to improve their performance in standing fights.
The beginning of the transmission of the episodes is scheduled for the end of May, and this year’s edition will have the participation of fighters in the bantamweight (up to 61.2 kg) and lightweight (up to 70.3 kg) categories, who will be guided by Conor McGregor and the Michael Chandler . The finale will have Conor and Chandler facing each other, still without a set date.
A former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion, McGregor is 34 years old and hasn’t fought for almost two years. His last fight took place in July 2021, when he was defeated by Dustin Poirier, and his last positive result happened in 2020, when he knocked out Donald Cerrone. Michel Chandler, 36 years old, is a former Bellator lightweight champion and, in his last fight at Ultimate, in November of last year, he was submitted by Poirier at UFC 281.
