Palhares Hated Jones Match Refuses To Explain on Why He Schaubed it

Rousimar Palhares had one of the worst matches of all time at KAsai. In a Craig Jones duel he just kept on framing and disengaging. Clearly the Brazilian felt he was unprepared.

He told MMAFighting:

“I really hated the match because I didn’t show anything and didn’t let him do anything,” Palhares told MMA Fighting. “I’ll tell you the truth, it was one of the worst matches of my life. I was pissed off with my performance.”

Palhares says he decided not to be very aggressive and risk losing positions after the first penalty was given because he thoughts points were allowed as well.

“The referee said I had to go to his guard or I would get a penalty,” Palhares said. “If you’re going to give penalties, you have to give to both because he was sitting on the mat without touching me.”

In general much of the event was a bust due to similar behavior – seems as though many of the grapplers featured were much more obsessed with not losing as opposed to seeking out a victory.

Here’s what Palhares wrote of the event:

Good morning guys! How are you? I’m fine thank God I’m already at home! And after digesting a bit of my Saturday presentation on@kasaigrapplingI feel that I owe you my fans and even those who are not fans but like to fight, jiu-jitsu, anyway, I need to open up with you, I did not present myself well, I did not show my jiu-jitsu, I’m disappointed by that. I will also make it clear that I fought in my normal weight, 100kgs, because everyone knows that mourning MMA in the category of 77 kgs, and in my last fight I went bad, I was medicated twice before the fight, it was a more difficult weight loss that I had And because of this I did not commit to losing weight this time. And in this Saturday fight with Graig Jones we fought at our normal weight, I hit 100 kg and he 95.8 kg. And because of him fighting with me at that weight, he asked for the rules that he would fight only with a finish. Until the beginning of the fight was that way. The judge called me so I stepped on the Tatame and told me that would be the rules. But in the course of the fight the rules, without explanation they changed. They started to give advantage in a fight that would not be worth points, only finalization. The fight had to start up, but he refused to stand and so the judge accepted. Anyway, I could not release my game, but everyone knows my Jiu-jitsu. I love what I do, but it does not always depend solely on the athlete the result of a fight. Even more on that level.@graigjones It’s a very hard athlete, and it was an honor to fight with him. I feel that I should come and talk to you like this, to clarify some doubts that are in the minds of many people, it’s just clarifications, they’re no excuses. For me, excuses do not mean anything because This was the profession I chose to earn my living and my family, and who is in the rain is not to get wet? A big hug to all and thank you for being here! You are all welcome! #oss #gotoko @drajbarboza @miguelvieiranutri @irontecfitness @teamnogueirarecreio @leohonoriobjj @farmacopafarmacia @rjivanrodrigues @cemeruoficial @ludusactius @corte_arte_barbershop

Bom dia galera! Como estão vcs? Eu estou bem graças a Deus! #oss #gotoko @drajbarboza @miguelvieiranutri @irontecfitness @teamnogueirarecreio @leohonoriobjj @farmacopafarmacia @rjivanrodrigues @cemeruoficial @ludusactius @corte_arte_barbershop
