Nick Rodriguez Talks John Danaher: “He Did A Really Good Job At Boosting Confidence”

Nick Rodriguez was a part of the Danaher Death Squad (DDS) before its split.
And, even though he doesn’t train under John Danaher anymore, he still has lots of words of praise for him.

For example, Rodriguez says that Danaher does a good job at boosting his athletes’ confidence levels:

Something that John Danaher did really well for us, or for me specifically… Is that he would do a good job at getting me to peak mentally.

So, like, he would give me a few compliments when I needed them.
And he’d be, like: “Oh, show me this, show me that after practice.”

And then, I felt like he just did a really good job at boosting the confidence [when it was needed].

Danaher would ask him to demonstrate moves after training. And he knew what to say, as well as when to say it:

He’d be, like: “Show me double Kouchi, show me wrestling up, show me a guard pass…” Stuff like that.
So, he would do that.

But ultimately, he would give me – and I would see him give to other guys – certain kinds of compliments at the right time…
And I’d be, like: “Oh, I’m gonna kill this competition.”
