Nick Diaz Set to Fight Jorge Masvidal – Masvidal a Betting Favorite over Diaz

Reports indicate UFC fan favorite Nick Diaz would be returning to the Octagon after f 4 year layoff to face Jorge Masvidal at UFC 235.

Shortly after that report, BetOnline released betting lines for the matchup and listed Diaz as a +135 underdog. Masvidal, the No. 9-ranked welterweight in the world, has opened as a +155 favorite.

Masvidal is on a two loss spree – by way of Demian Maia and Stephen Thompson. Demian Maia barely got the split decision against Masvidal only to then go 0-3 having faced Woodley, Covington and Usman in quick succession.

Diaz was in talks to return several times but they kept falling through. He is currently 35 years old. Nick Diaz was rumored to have rejected an offer to fight Colby Covington :

“No chance [I fight him],” Colby Covington said on an recent appearance on BJPENN Radio. “I wanna defend my belt, you know. The Nick Diaz fight, it was cool, I would’ve been willing to save The Garden and make The Garden great again. You know the Trump family would’ve came out to support, it would’ve been a spectacle. I would’ve made history there. But now, he’s been passed up. I’m not wasting my time on him, he’s irrelevant.”

If he signs on the dotted line to battle – the fight will be happening at UFC 235 on March 2, 2019.
