Nick Diaz Domestic Violence Case Going Forward

Nick Diaz just can’t catch a break. The bjj and mma ace was in court today in Las Vegas representing himself against domestic violence accusations.

While Diaz wasn’t present at the hearing the DA’s office presented a 2 page criminal complaint stemming from an incident dated May 24th.

Prosecutor argued that the severe nature of Diaz’ assault warranted a bail increase prompting Diaz’ attorney to question the alleged victim’s story.

The judge refused to let Diaz be punished based on his occupation saying:

“I don’t care,” she said. “He’s going to be treated the same way everybody else is.”

Diaz remains free on an $18,000 bond and is next due in court on July 10 at 10 a.m. PT. He is ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victim.

An officer who interviewed the alleged victim at the hospital said the details of the assault changed from her initial report; Diaz grabbed her throat for 30 seconds until she felt she would pass out, and she hit her hip on the pool after he pushed her toward the pool and she tried to stop him.

UFC will conduct their own investigation into these charges.
