MMA Great Gary Goodridge Converts To Islam

MMA legend Garry Goodridge appeared as a guest on the Deen Show, the popular Youtube channel of Eddie Redzovic, owner and instructor of Team Redzovic BJJ in Chicago. Goodridge made an interesting revelation, he recently converted to Islam. He goes into detail about what motivated him to make this life change.

Goodridge fought in UFC 8 armed only with his experience on boxing and with less than a month of experience in the art of Kuk Soon Wol.

He was also a multiple world arm wrestling champion. He defeated arm wrestling greats like Sharon Remez and John Brzenk in 1991 and again in 1994. He was also the super heavyweight amateur boxing champion of Canada.

Another martial artist who also converted to Islam was Rigan Machado.
Here he explains his reasons:

5x World BJJ champion Bernardo Faria has developed the No Gi Half Guard. His submissions and sweeps works just as easily for No Gi, if not easier.
1.In No Gi there are not as many grips you can play. For example, you can’t play spider guard and the whole array of guards that stem from it. His guard works perfectly.
2.There are not a lot of grips your opponent can use to stop your sweep while playing No Gi. They can’t grab your collar, sleeve or pants obviously. Again, his guard works perfectly.
