Mackenzie Dern has dominant performance and beats Hill

Responsible for the main event of UFC Vegas 73, Mackenzie Dern and Angela Hill started to exchange in the first few seconds. Afterwards, they went to the ground, but the fight quickly returned to standing. Mackenzie, soon after, connected with a strong right hand and took the American to a knockdown. On top, the Jiu-Jitsu black belt put on a show, with several transitions, and at the end of the first round, she almost submitted with an armbar.

In the second round, after a brief exchange, Hill “locked” Dern from behind and then against the fence, controlling Mackenzie’s actions and scoring points. In the third part, the fight quickly went to the ground and, from below, he sought the triangle, but was unable to submit. With the fight on their feet once more, Mackenzie once again rocked Angela with a hard knee and then got the takedown. On top, the black belt landed several ground-and-pound strikes, punished her opponent’s face, and narrowly missed the finish, again from an armbar position.

In the fourth round, Angela Hill pressed Mackenzie Dern against the fence again. In striking, the American-Brazilian remained superior and ended the partial once again on top on the ground, increasing her advantage. In the last round, still in the first few seconds, Dern took the fight to the ground and, as was the case throughout the fight, the multi-champion in the gentle art, proved to be dominant, with a high volume of blows. In the end, after five intense rounds and clear superiority at UFC Vegas 73, Mackenzie emerged victorious in a unanimous decision of the judges, recovering from the loss to Yan Xiaonan.

Mackenzie Dern’s recent fight was already remarkable, but it became even more memorable when her father and coach, Wellington ‘Megaton’ Dias, scrutinized her BJJ black belt skills. As a renowned BJJ competitor and coral belt holder himself, Megaton’s evaluation of her performance surely held significant weight. Megaton promoted his daughter to third degree BJJ black belt. Nevertheless, Dern was confident of her victory even before receiving the promotion, having won the fight convincingly. Her performance must have left her overjoyed.
