Khabib Shows How to Escape Makhachev’s Modified Arm Triangle

Islam Makhacev and Charles Oliveira headlined the UFC 280 fight card in Abu Dhabi, where they’ve fought for the vacant lightweight title.
Earlier, Oliveira was stripped off the lightweight championship, after he has failed to make weight at UFC 274 in May. He defeated Justin Gaethje nevertheless, and remained the top contender in the division (although the title became vacant).

Fast forward to the last Saturday, the UFC 280 lightweight title fight was a ferocious one. Makhachev landed a heavy left hand early on in the bout, with Oliveira clinching and pulling guard.
Afterwards, Oliveira went for a Triangle Choke but Makhachev escaped the attempt. The two then got up to their feet, with Oliveira driving Makhachev to the cage where they exchanged knees. Makhachev tossed Oliveira to the ground and then delivered a number of smaller punches to the body. The round ended.

Then, at the beginning of second round, Oliveira pressured Makhachev. The two fighters got into a clinch and Makhachev pressed his opponent against the fence.
Soon after, they separated and started exchanging strikes; with Makhachev connecting with a great right hand that dropped Oliveira.

He followed him down to the canvas and locked an Arm Triangle – tapping Oliveira out.

Islam’s coach Khabib showed how he defends the choke:
