Gi Jiu jitsu is very specific in that it has a certain set of grips you need to have understanding of. While nogi is more dynamic and somewhat more reliant on athletic prowess the gi jiu jitsu and the step by step setup and understanding can catapult you to a new level.
But with the gi comes a unique set of challenges, among them – what to do when you just can’t break grips any way you slice it?
In many grip situations you’re much better off counter gripping than you are actually defending the grip.
