Jon Jones: ‘I Don’t Understand Why Khabib Doesn’t Work A Lot of Jiu-Jitsu’

Jon Jones recently expressed interest in returning to grappling while he awaits octagon return.

However the funding for Submission Underground seems to have suspiciously gone downhill since flocombat has been struggling – in fact the last edition of SUG was streamed free on Chael Sonnen’s youtube. A far cry from Polaris, EBI and Quintet who are enjoying their tenure on fight pass.

Jones was recently interviewed by Russian MMA website and asked about Conor McGregor’s Wrestling skills and wether the Irishman can compete with Khabib Nurmagomedov’s wrestling:

”I believe that Conor McGregor has wrestling. I don’t think it’s at the level of Khabib. I believe that Khabib will get the majority of his takedowns that he goes for. Conor, he’s an athlete. He shouldn’t be underestimated.”

Jones also has some advice for Khabib. He needs to add more Jiu-Jitsu:

”I think Khabib, his boxing defense isn’t the the strongest. I don’t understand why he doesn’t work a lot of jiu jitsu. If you can take down anybody, why not know how to finish them? He depends on ground and pound and he never finishes anyone with that. Khabib is a black belt wrestler. If he adds a black belt in jiu jitsu to his recipe, he’d be extremely scary.”

Jones may not now that Khabib is working on his BJJ:
