Jiu-Jitsu community embraces first festival for Down Syndrome athletes

1st edition of Jiu-Jitsu Down Festival has been held last Saturday in Rio de Janeiro. There many well known athletes in the community provided support, rolled and hung around athletes with Down Syndrome.

“It was inspiring this event,” said Cleiber Maia, president of SJJSAF to graciemag. “Everyone wore the shirt, or rather the kimono. The support of Secretary Felipe Bornier to the event was very important. He still made a point of making a superlute. It was really contagious. SESC and the Operation Lei Seca team also embraced this cause. The success was so much that the event will enter the annual calendar of SJJSAF. “

The Festival, whose main goal was to raise public awareness about the inclusion of people with Down Syndrome, also featured the participation of UFC’s Leo Santos, World champion and Bellator athlete Leo Leite, former UFC athletes Hacran Dias and Delson Pé-de Chumbo, past legends of Jiu-Jitsu such as Fernando Pinduka, Leonardo Castello Branco and Roberto Roleta, as well as black belt Lu Neder and presenter Paula Sack, among others who donated their time and all their affection to these young people.

Tanquinho wasn’t there but he shared his support for the project by sharing this:
