Jiu jitsu Academy Honoring Slain US Deputy Marshal Chase White

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community in Tucson Arizona is mourning the loss of slain US Deputy Marshal Chase White. White was a member of Daimyo Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the past 2 years.
Marshal White, 41, was shot and killed while attempting to serve a felony arrest warrant on a subject for stalking a law enforcement officer.

According to reports owner and head instructor, Manuel Flores, says White was a dedicated member who often took the academy’s 6 a.m. classes at the Ina Road location.

“He always joked that you could only find him at three places. He was either at work, in jiujitsu, or at home with his family,” Flores said.

Everyone at the academy was heartbroken to learn he was killed in the line of duty last week.

In his two years at Daimyo, Flores says White was the first one to help newcomers and make them feel more comfortable learning the martial art.

“He was just an amazing, kind human being. Being in law enforcement, he was very focused, very driven, very serious,” Flores said. Those dearly-missed qualities of White’s are why Flores wanted to find a way to help. “He was a member of our academy, but he was truly a brother to the entire Tucson community. He’s going to be dearly missed.”

The gym is planning to host classes to collect cash. If you attend any of these classes, they’ll donate the proceeds towards White’s family.
