Jake Shields and Georges St.Pierre break bread under the Danaher roof

Jake Shields and Georges St. Pierre have overcome previous animosity!

John Danaher confirmed this in an earlier post:

Former adversaries, new friends: Georges St-Pierre and Jake Shields finish up a tough day of training with the squad. They fought in front of one of the biggest crowds in UFC history. Today they trained and laughed together in front of a crowded room. Both times it was a wonderful time to be around

Georges St.Pierre famously fought Jake Shields on UFC 129 in Toronto, Canada on 30th April 2011. This was the first sanctioned mixed martial arts event in Ontario since the sport was legalized. This was the largest UFC event to that date in North American history.

It also coincided with a two-day UFC Fan Expo. All 42,000 tickets were sold out, most of them even in special pre-sales. Final number of tickets sold reached 55,000.

Georges St.Pierre ended up winning via anonymus decision after 5 rounds of 5 minutes each. Judges scored them 50-45, 48-47 and 48-47 in GSP’s favor.

The fight was also prefaced with interesting episode of UFC Primetime where all three Danaher, Shields and St.Pierre talked a little bit about the bout. You can watch that here:

It’s one of the rare Danaher sightings prior to joining social media this past month.
