Karel “Silver Fox” Pravec has just launched his new BJJ app, and after going through what he’s offering, I have to say this is not just another instructional platform thrown together to cash in on online content.
There’s a very clear idea behind it.
If you’ve followed Silver Fox over the years, you already know what he’s about. Precision, timing, and efficiency. He’s never been the kind of coach who relies on athleticism or flashy techniques. His reputation was built on making things work against anyone, especially with his guillotine system, which has been respected at the highest level for a long time.
What I find interesting is that he hasn’t limited that concept to just one area of his game anymore. From what I’ve seen inside the app, that same philosophy runs through everything. Armbars, triangles, leg locks, transitions, it’s all built around the idea of doing more with less. That’s something that a lot of people talk about, but very few actually deliver in a structured way.
The app itself is clean and straightforward. You’re not overwhelmed with random techniques thrown at you with no direction. There’s a clear effort to guide the user toward building an actual game, not just collecting moves. That’s a big difference.
One thing that stands out immediately is the weekly updates. This isn’t static content that you go through once and forget about. It feels like something that keeps evolving, which is important today because Jiu Jitsu itself evolves quickly.
Another thing I like is the personalization aspect. You can actually choose what areas you want to work on, and the app organizes the content around that. It sounds simple, but most platforms still don’t do this well. People end up jumping from technique to technique without really improving. This tries to fix that.
What really separates it, though, is the interaction element. Being able to ask questions directly and get answers from Silver Fox himself adds a layer that most apps simply don’t have. That’s the closest thing you can get to real coaching without being physically in the room.
For those who don’t know his background, this isn’t just another instructor entering the online space. He’s one of Renzo Gracie’s first black belts and has been around at a high level for decades. More importantly, he’s always been known for how he teaches. Clear, simple, and focused on concepts that actually stick.
And that’s probably the biggest strength of this app. It doesn’t feel like it’s trying to impress you. It feels like it’s trying to make you better.
There’s a big difference between watching techniques and actually improving your Jiu Jitsu. Most people have already realized that just consuming more content doesn’t automatically translate into progress. You need structure, direction, and a system that makes sense.
From what I’ve seen, that’s exactly what this is aiming to provide.
If you’re a beginner, it gives you a clear path instead of confusion. If you’re more advanced, there are enough details and concepts to refine what you’re already doing. And if you’re someone who prefers a more efficient, controlled style rather than relying on speed and strength, this approach will probably resonate even more.
At the end of the day, there are a lot of BJJ apps out there right now. Most of them offer access to techniques. Very few offer a real way to build your game.
This one looks like it’s trying to do exactly that.
And honestly, knowing Silver Fox and the way he’s approached Jiu Jitsu for years, it makes sense that this is the direction he took.
