Is a UFC event in France Possible?

France is a country that’s not directly associated with fighting. This is weird because as history dictates it, France have won more battles than they have suffered losses. With the emergence of Parisian Cheick Kongo and French-speaking Canadian Georges St-Pierre, the world may see French fighters in a different light. Cheick Kongo is a beast in the octagon, destroying his opponents with his superb striking. Georges St-Pierre (popularly known as GSP, and arguably the greatest MMA fighter in the world) finishes the completion by making them quit through different types of submissions. Even with the popularity of these two MMA fighters, France hasn’t hosted a single UFC event. A big reason for this is probably the government restrictions for fight sports. Although the rules conflict with the sport, the fans are extremely excited just by the possibility of seeing their favorite fighters up-close. Dana White, President of the UFC, is already in talks with the French sports minister for a possible fight card in France. Let’s just hope that the sports minister permit such event.

The most probable venues for a UFC fight could be Paris or Monte Carlo. Paris, for the obvious reasons, is the most populated city and also the most accessible in France. Monte Carlo, on the other hand, is the “gambling capital” of France (or maybe in Europe). An event like this would be welcomed by gamblers who are after a way to make some quick cash. Unfortunately, with the restrictions, chances of holding the event in France are low. The fans can only be optimistic that their sports minister allows a UFC fight to be played in their country. For gamblers, it would be best to stick with online betting or poker. Poker is a great way to make money because it is a game where luck has minimal influence (compared to other card games). There are also ways and techniques where a person can win at poker without relying on their hand. The most popular technique in poker is bluffing. It is the act of tricking your opponents by making them think you have a better hand than what you actually have. There are also online gaming websites, like British bookmaker William Hill , where you can polish your poker your skills against real opponents online as well as place your bets on sporting events.

In a recent UFC event held in the U.S., Dana White hinted that a probable expansion of their company could make having events in Europe a lot easier. So far, there were only 14 UFC events held in Europe, having 11 in England, 2 in Germany and 1 in Ireland. Let’s hope that other European countries would get into the MMA bandwagon to increase the sport’s popularity all across the globe.
