Even though IBJJF is frequently slammed for being completely adamant to change it’s been a little different these past few years.
One notable change was arranging the IBJJF Heavyweight Grand Prix with a substantial financial award – 40.000$ for the winner and another 10.000$ for the runner up.
It seems as though they’re preparing for another innovation – something called the IBJJF Black Belt Adult Open Class Champions Ring Awards Ceremony.
It seems as though Garcia will be receiving retroactively an award for 2011 and 2012 achievements. Garcia commented:
Back home tired and receiving this letter from @ibjjf made my day special.
Thank you #ibjjf for the invitation in receiving the ring from the select group of open class world champions.
