Great Details To Umpa & Elbow Escape by Kurt Osiander

One of the first moves that you will learn when starting is how to escape a mount. We work on those moves during the first months of BJJ then start focusing on other parts of the ocean of techniques in BJJ.

What happens at blue belt is that most people forget all the important details to those vital techniques.

Kurt Osiander shows so great details that make a big difference. First one is to already be in crunched up stance. He also shows the way to grab the attacking hand. He likes to grab the sleeve with his opposite hand and grab the opponent’s elbow so that they can’t pull it back. The way you bridge and turn your head also determine the effectiveness of the sweep.

If the opponent posts with the leg, he then proceeds with the elbow escape, making a frame and pushing his hips back.
