Grappling Central Interviews Baret Yoshida

Last episode of Grappling central podcast featured a very special interview – the first ever podcast interview with Baret Yoshida.

Like many guests, Yoshida talked about his origin bjj story and his includes working at a fish market, Gracie action tapes and starting with Relson Gracie.

Yoshida joined the Inoue academy some time after reaching purple belt level. He talked some differences between the two academies and how he got to branch out.

One more topic on the docket? ADCC 1999. Yoshida recollects fighting against Megaton in the first round and further invites. Baret Yoshida even fought against Royler Gracie in ADCC setting couple of times. He has a unique way of humanizing his opponents which is possibly why he did so well on several occasions.

Interestingly, Yoshida is outspoken about his preference of nogi!

The two men also discussed the differences to approaching an opponent in MMA and jiu-jitsu and the role anger plays in the entire experience of competitive fighting.

Among other things that were discussed were the beginnings in Hawaii as well as the time Yoshida spent fighting in Japan. One more landmark to be discussed was his MMA experience.
