The impending downfall of Berkut might be panning out great for IBJJF. In spite of saying many times he wouldn’t compete for free – Gordon Ryan is doing just that. He recently confirmed he’s signed up for Nogi Worlds in the Ultra Heavy division.
The division also currently lists Roberto Cyborg and Adam Sachnoff. While Ryan easily heel hooked Cyborg at the ADCC it remains to be seen how will he be able to deal with the powerhouse in IBJJF rule set which explicitly forbids reaping and heel hooks.
When Ryan opted to compete at PAns – in order to qualify for Worlds (it seems) he had an interesting rules meeting. Afterwards he shared:
