Gordon Ryan: It Warms My Heart To Make All The Haters Furious

Gordon Ryan is feeling great after his last EBI tournament. This latest prize makes his earnings even up to a 40.000$ having won the 25000 at the EBI Absolute and stunned everyone some time back. This time he actually fought the fighters closer to his natural weight – as BJJ Heroes has him listed as competing in upto 76kg and 82kg divisions.

Of course, this time he also wasn’t just a stand in he was preparing for it all along.

“I mean yeah. It wasn’t too much different the whole absolute camp I was doing with these guys so I was prepared to do the last one also. Also I had more than a week’s notice to get on this one so it was good. “

Of course due to his amazing performance on the last one he also had a unique pleasure of being featured on the Theater sign:

When asked about this unique pleasure Mr. Ryan replied:

“I mean, yeah it was cool. I knew Garry and Eddie previously took pictures in front of that and shared it on social media so I had to do that. “

And as far as turning up the heat verbally goes (and or challenging a number of others)….

“I’m trying to get matches with everyone and nobody wants the match so I’m talking shit.”

Naturally some consider him a bit plagued by delusions of grandeur due to his outspoken social media. To this Ryan responds:

“It just warms my heart to make all the haters furious because there’s nothing they can do to me. “

On Keenan Cornelius no time limit fight:

“It was definitely a long match. I knew it was gonna be a long match. Keenan is super talented, hard to submit. I mean both of us were undefeated in no time limit matches and neither one of us has been submitted since purple belt so I knew it was gonna be a very tough match. Around minute 58 I was thinking the same thing I thought during minute 10 which was I just thought he had no means to be able to submit me. “

Another thing he shared in the interview is what are his thoughts on people who didn’t like sub only no time limit matches, especially ones as long as Gordon vs Keenan…

“I’m sorry it took so long everybody out there. And Secondly, when was the last time you submitted Keenan in competition? Probably never. So.. As far as I’m concerned I rule the world!”

On the possibility of facing the MG Dream Team he says:

“(Diniz and Danis) are unavailable. And Munch is – we compete in the same class but I walk around much bigger than Munch so I figured these 3 guys have no ways to submit me so I figured might as well do these 3 back to back matches. ”

Later on he added: “The only reason I challenged all 3 was because 2 of the 3 would not take fight.”
