Gi Review: The Beautiful Managura V4 Gi from Athletes On The Mat

I was really happy when the guys from BJJ lifestyle wear company ‘Athletes On The Mat’  & instagram page me a really nice black Managura V4 BJJ Gi .

Athletes on the Mat are a BJJ wear company that have made waves in France and Europe having their clothes being worn by some of the top famous MMA athletes from the UFC and Bellator.

They do BJJ Tshirts, rash guards, belts, patches, accessories and soon much more.

At a first glance: the athletes on the mat Managura V4 Gi, with its black color contrasted by beautiful pink details speak of uniqueness. No other high quality Gi on the market offers the combination of a black and pink design. The choice of this color combination is both spectacular and elegant as the color black is associated with power, authority, and mystery, while the color pink represents playfulness, friendship and approachability.

At first touch: The first thing I noticed when unpacking the Gi was the light weight where the jacket comes in at a mere 430 grams. The second thing I noticed when trying it on was the fitting comfort of the pants and the sensation of high quality material along with the flashy pink cord 6 point loop system.

JACKET :

430 gsm Pearl Weave cotton

One piece construction with no back seam

EVA foam collar

Pre shrunk fabric

Wash cold and hang dry

Sublimated mesh inside neck

PANT :

10 oz. Rip-Stop pants

6 point loop system

Pre shrunk fabric.

Wash cold and hang dry

Size & durability: I use an A3 size and it fitted me well. The Gi is delivered pre shrunk, and it still remained the same in size after multiple washings, a feature that is highly appreciated as many pre washed Gi’s continue to shrink with time. As for durability, the Gi is completely reinforced and since I have rolled in it intensively for more than a month, I can only say that that the quality matched my expectations.

Price: The price comes at around 129 €  which is a fair price compared with other high end Gi’s on the market. You can order it HERE.

Conclusion: People have different tastes and personalities. Some people like more flashy Gi’s while others prefer a more visually low key approach. In my opinion, the black athletes on the mat Managura V4 Gi, with its comfortable and unique design is a mix of both and perhaps one of the few Gi’s that best represent the true meaning of the gentle art where power meets playfulness.
